Slow cookers are the ultimate set-and-forget cooking method. By cooking using lower heat over a longer duration it tenderizes the ingredients and infuses the flavours. Commonly used to turn a tough hunk of pork shoulder into delicious slow cooked pork. Stews are also a hearty favourite.
The biggest difference among existing slow cookers is the capacity. Larger cookers can cook more at a time but also take longer to cook and clean. Other features mostly come down to preference. The trade-off for additional convenience is of course additional cost. There are manual or automatic controls, or even digital displays.
Crock-pot is the current brand favourite amongst consumers, although a few others have lined up their contending products.
